Our
community projects are designed to be works in progress,
requiring the
participation of many individuals in creating a unique monument
to their battle with cancer. The first community project,
the wooden figure, was implemented at the 2005 A.G. Edwards
Cancer Wellness Fair and completed at Siteman Cancer Center
over a period of months. It was also the first Arts as Healing
project offered to adults and was received with only positive
responses. Many participants came back with a friend to
show them “their square”.
Arts
as Healing was asked to return for the 2006 Cancer Wellness
Fair at A.G. Edwards where nearly 100 attendees took part
in painting their own tile for the "Your Tile Matters"
project. These tiles are displayed in the Barnard Health
and Cancer Information Center at Siteman Cancer Center.
