“Your Square Matters” and "Your Tile Matters" - These projects emphasize the strength and confirmation that participants receive from each other by taking part in a collective artistic effort. A large work of art is created from smaller squares painted by each participant. For "Your Square Matters" the finished piece is a life-sized painted wooden mannequin. For "Your Tile Matters" the evolving, colorful piece of artwork is an extensive wall on the 7th floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine at Siteman Cancer Center. Each square, which shows the individual’s feelings and sentiments, is of equal significance to the total finished piece of art - everyone’s square matters. When displayed as an entire unit, the impact of the artwork is profound, as it conveys the amazing power of the human spirit.
